Cockroach Orchstra

I liked them before they were cool

Digital

This was a university project to create a sketchbook image using influences from Margo Chase, and with the themes of Music and Entymology. I grew up as a semi-Goth in the 90’s so I chose her work from that period, as if there had been a Goth version of the film Joe’s Apartment with singing roaches.

I chose a brilliant red and black scheme to fit the Goth aesthetic, and added a heart shape to the hand drawn vectors of the bug to reinforce that. The background was a cool grey, and I layered a stained cloth texture over top to give it a look of elegant decay. The font used is called Cullen, because nothing fits this aesthetic better than Twilight.
